Creative Workshops

Everyone is an artist, and in 2017 the artist in you will have the chance to try your hand at a variety of creative techniques. Our creative workshops allow children and adults to participate in a variety of hands-on workshops to whet the artistic appetite. Assisted and inspired by local artists, a variety of creative workshops will run throughout the day.

Thank you to all the artists for volunteering their time in running these Workshops.

String Art Workshop (10:00 am)

Join us at the Somers Art Fair to create your own unique piece of String Art.   Choose different coloured wool to thread between a grid of nails hammered into a wooden board. As you work your way around your design, you can form geometric patterns or a random criss-cross effect leaving a colourful masterpiece. Although each thread is a straight line, the slightly different angles and metric positions where your string intersects gives the appearance of curves with a striking outcome. The end result is at your finger tips!

  • Drop In workshop (No need to pre book) from 10am – 2pm
  • Please buy a ticket at the Workshop Booth
  • Find us in the Art Marquee
  • All materials provided
  • A selection of different designs to choose from
  • Cost $15 per art piece
  • All proceeds go to Somers Primary School
